    Hi,

I think I am very sensitive to sound. I'm not sure if it's just me, or others experience this as well. How do others cope with situations dealing with loud noise, or unpleasent sounds?

Ear defenders, I wear them everywhere, wear them on main roads, around construction, in my house whenever I get a sensory overload, get some earplugs or ear defenders

Suburbian Thanks Suburbian. What ear defenders do you recommend? Are these similar to noise cancellation headphones?

Any ear defenders will do, ebay has loads, and yeah noise cancelling headphones work too, just ear protection in general

I am very sensitive to sound. I use musicians earplugs a lot. You can still hear conversations; but they significantly mute everything over a certain decibel. They are great if you're in a loud restaurant with friends. I use apple airpods pro with the noise cancelling on if I don't want to hear anything but I don't need to block everything out, just some of the noise. I use the bose over the ear noise cancelling headphones while playing a white noise app for when I want to block everything out. I've never tried ear defenders.

Christiana Thanks Christiana. I have used the ear noise cancelling headphones, but most of them are big and heavy. I'll check out airpods pro.

      What's a white noise app?

Yeah, the over the ear ones are heavy. I usually only use them inside.

It's an app that generates the noise of your choice; rain, ocean waves, birds, tv static, wind chimes, crickets etc. Some people use them to help fall asleep. I use mine to drown out sounds when I can't get to a quiet place.
